A TIRED shepherd got a wake-up call for Christmas while characters hunted for baby Jesus in nativity productions in Blyth.
Bede Academy Primary gives all the children the opportunity to take part in a nativity, hosting a total of ten separate productions for families.
Year 2 student Ashton Glover took the starring role in the key stage one performance of The Sleepy Shepherd, while Reece Richardson Maddison had to step into the shoes of Joseph at the last minute due to another boy being poorly.
Maggie Potts played Mary while Tate Nesbit, Jack Walker and Ethan Long were the kings, and Ethan Cook, Maisie Diston, Abigail Thompson and Jake Forrester narrated the story.
The festive theme to their day continued when all the staff and children tucked into their Christmas lunch.
Performances were held over a three week period with Reception class rounding off the season with their staging of Find the Baby.
Mary and Joseph were joined by donkey, the star and three kings Louie Templeman, Isaac Neave, Archie Johnstone, along with a host of shepherds, angels and narrators.
Primary headteacher Irene Watson said: "All the children have performed their hearts out, singing, acting and even dancing and should be very proud of themselves.
"Our nativities require a marathon effort on the part of our staff, who do a fantastic job to prepare the children, who love to have family members come to watch them. It's a lovely way to round off the term and get everyone into the Christmas spirit."
A collection at the end of all the Bede Primary nativities will be counted up in time for Christmas by the school action group and donated to the Matthew Project, part of the Blyth Christian fellowship, which distributes food to needy families in Wansbeck, Blyth and Bedlington.
