Students receive Chief Superintendents commendation

MEDIA students have been given new focus after their creative talents were recognised by the police.

Students on the Level 3 TV and Film Extended Diploma have received a Chief Superintendents Commendation for producing a video for a new campaign.

The short film extolls the virtues of a police campaign called Adopt Your Street, designed to promote people’s civic pride in their communities.

At a special award presentation Aiden Goldberg, 17, Amy Pettler, 19 and James Pratt, 18, were praised by Chief Inspector Chris Reeves.

He said: “I was so impressed. It’s by far the best video we have had done. None of us are actors yet the students made us come across really well. I think they all have very bright futures.”

Principal Kate Roe added: “Being offered the opportunity to become involved in real projects is invaluable experience for our students and it is fantastic to see them rise to the challenge so well.”

Accompanied by Safer Neighbourhood Unit and Town Beat Sgt Louise Guest, CI Reeves presented the media pupils with commendation certificates.

James said: “It was good to work on a live project, with real clients who were going to judge us professionally. We really enjoyed filming in the community and piecing the footage together, giving it structure in the edit suite.”
