YOUNG football players have netted another collection of trophies cementing their school’s credentials as a centre of sporting excellence.
In the wake of a host of successes at rugby and cricket, Richmond School and Sixth Form has now swept the board at football.
Year 7, 8 and 9 teams played seven-man sides from across North Yorkshire, each one winning their area tournaments.
Year 7s and 9s also won their respective 11-a-side Knockout Cup, with the latter remaining undefeated for the past three years and set to compete in the County Cup Final on April 21 against St John Fisher School, Harrogate.
PE teacher and coach Jonathan Kellett said: “All of our players are committed and very talented but the Year 9s are something else. They have won everything for the past three years and live and breathe football.
“They are all great friends and when they are on the pitch seem to know what each other is thinking. They run their socks off for the school and are always training and working on their fitness, which shows through when they compete.”
Richmond School and Sixth Form has invested heavily in sport in recent years and now boasts some of the best facilities in the county.
The rugby teams have recorded a string of successes this year and the U13 cricket team have just been crowned Indoor Yorkshire Champions.
