SCHOOL leavers were given an award winning send off as they celebrated a successful end to the school term.

Sixth form students at Beaumont Hill Academy, part of The Education Village Academy Trust, Darlington, were applauded by staff, parents, carers, family and friends, as they were honoured at the school’s annual Record of Achievement awards.

Certificates were presented in a number of academic and sporting subjects alongside awards for communication, creativity and independence at the specialist academy, which supports children with a range of abilities from profound and multiple learning difficulties to severe and complex needs.

Deputy head Sam Dawson who presented the certificates alongside the academy’s chair of governors Roy Patel, said: “It is wonderful to see so many people here today celebrating in our students’ success.

“All of our sixth formers have worked extremely hard, with help from our amazing staff, and the things that they have achieved and the progress they have made is just incredible.

“Many of our leavers are heading off to college, some will be staying with us to complete an additional year, but wherever they are going I wish them all the best for the future.”
