PITCH perfect pupils brought the end of term to a crescendo with a farewell concert for their school’s appropriately named head of music – Mr Tallent.
Young drummers, saxophonists, pianists, flautists, guitarists and vocalists from Bede Academy, Blyth, performed a medley of musical numbers at their annual summer concert.
The event, attended by a packed hall of parents, carers, family and friends, was led by departing musical maestro David Tallent.
Head of primary years Bethan Harding said: “Mr Tallent has been an absolute inspiration to our students, staff, parents and the whole community during the five years that he has been at the academy.
“Bede Academy is known for its musical talent and that in the main has been down to the hard work and dedication shown by Mr Tallent.
“Once again tonight’s concert has been incredible and I have been blown away by the sheer talent of all our students and staff.”
Over 70 primary pupils, aged five-11, took to the stage led by a rousing introduction from the Northumberland Nine on drums and culminating in an upper school choir performance of Starlight Express.
Vocal numbers included The Greatest Show, This is Me and A Million Dreams, from The Greatest Showman soundtrack and a solo from Year 6 pupil Joe Beal with a rendition of Castle in the Clouds from Les Miserables.
The audience was also entertained with instrumentals of The James Bond Theme, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, and Simon and Garfunkle’s Scarborough Fair.
Visiting parents and grandparents praised the event and the children’s performances.
