STUDENTS delivered a cornucopia of Christmas cheer in a showcase of talent to kick off the festive season.
Northallerton School & Sixth Form College staged a glittering extravaganza before a packed audience featuring music, dance, drama and gymnastics.
The three act Christmas showcase involved a cast of more than 110 in a two hour display of expressive arts.
The culmination of months of rehearsals, the production was the work of school and sixth form students with the help of teachers Bridie O’Donnell, Neil Stimson, Edd Maughan, Adrian Bramley and Kirsty Thompson.
The showcase featured performances by the school Jazz Band, College Choir, communal carols, drama, duets, solo renditions, gymnastics, African drumming, original material and Christmas classics.
Sixth former Connor Miles, 16, said: “It has been really hard work but very rewarding. We have rehearsed any spare minute we have had and were delighted with the way it came together on the night.”
Thomas Marwood, 12, said: “It has been such good fun. There hasn’t been a single rehearsal where we haven’t laughed.”
Sophie McGlynn, 17, said: “I have loved being part of this and it has really spurred me on to do something in this field professionally one day.”
Laura Reynolds, 13, added: “It has been really great working across year groups and we have made some strong friendships in the process.”
Ms O’Donnell had high praise for the students. She said: “This really has been their show and they have taken the lead in terms of content and staging. I think the reaction from the audience said it all and we are very proud of what they have achieved.”
