STAR performers were in the ascendancy as they brought festive cheer to their school.
Family and friends packed the chapel at Barnard Castle Preparatory School for the annual Year 3 and 4 Christingle and carol service.
Children basked in the glow of candlelight as they celebrated with Christingle oranges senior school pupils had decorated during the day.
A cacophony of Yuletide cheer echoed around the chapel as the junior and harmony choirs sang carols with gusto and skill.
Pupils also marked the occasion with a host of festive readings while chaplain Fr Darren Moore led the congregation in prayer.
Headmistress Laura Turner said: “Seeing all the children with their Christingle candles is a moving experience for staff and visitors and is the perfect way to celebrate Christmas.
“Many of the children have been with us since reception and it always amazes me how quickly they are growing up and how confident they perform in front of our school community. They all did extremely well and I think everyone was very proud of their performances.”
