STUDENTS clicked, creaked and crooned their way through a haunting musical with a creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky performance to remember.
A 40-strong cast, from Years 10 to 13, brought the The Addams Family to life in spectacular fashion at Barnard Castle School.
GCSE drama and A Level theatre studies students harnessed their considerable stage skills for a four-night showstopper before packed houses.
The musical comedy, which traces the antics of the sinister Addams and normal Beineke families, was the culmination of months of rehearsals.
Based on the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, the two act musical features the characters of Charles Addams, originally produced on Broadway and popularised on television in the 1960s.
Principal characters included Rohan Kelsall as Gomez Addams, Genevieve Myhan as his wife Morticia, Rachel Elphick as daughter Wednesday, Esia Forsyth as son Pugsley, Scott Edwards as Uncle Fester and Salma Ali as grandma.
Butler Lurch was played by Ben Edwards, Lucas Beineke by Sam Farquhar, Mal by James McGauley and Alice by Lexy Dalton. Staff and students also provided the technical crew.
Director Scott Edwards said: “The whole cast and crew have worked incredibly hard since September and the quality of the performances was testament to their dedication and talent.
“They have worked six days a week, every lunchtime and up to seven hours on a Sunday and their efforts were clearly appreciated by the audiences.”
