STUDENTS are wearing their hoodies with pride as they uphold a college’s reputation for achieving outstanding results.
The last cohort of Northallerton College students secured distinction plus out-performing further education colleges in the region in the CACHE childcare and education diploma.
The current group is following in successful footsteps with students securing vital work placements and many being offered places at university.
To celebrate the success of the course Year 12 and 13 students organised distinctive hoodies to wear with pride around college and while on work experience.
They hope to gain employment in schools and nurseries and already spend two days a week on placements.
Their education could be well-timed as it coincides with a national baby boom and major expansion of Northallerton, which are both expected to see a marked increase in school roles.
Head of vocational support Claire Cook said: “We have run a very successful course for the past ten years.
“Our students either move onto university or find employment and it is particularly rewarding that they come from the community and go back into the community to teach the next generation.”
Student Georgia Stansfield, 18, of Masham, wants to be a primary school teacher and has been offered five places at university.
She said: “Working in schools and seeing how staff bond with children has helped me realise that I want to teach early years, where you can see them develop the most.”
