A STUDENT who made his first trader deal at 14 is on a path to prosperity after securing a place at the London School of Economics.

Richmond School and Sixth Form College student Liam Laverick will read economics and asset management in the next step to his dream career in the city.

The 18-year-old, of Catterick Garrison, has been fascinated by money, investments and the markets since he was a child. He has already enjoyed two internships with bank and financial services company J P Morgan.

“It started with my mum telling me I should think of a way to make money,” said Liam, who gained two A*s and an A at A Level and an A in AS further maths. “The world of finance boasts some of the best graduate starting salaries in the world and the potential to make plenty of money. I think Latin America will be the next boom area and China is amazing; it’s just crazy.”

Head of sixth form Leslie Richardson said: “Liam is a brilliant mathematician and extremely driven. His superb results reflect this and I have no doubt that he will succeed in any goal he sets for himself including becoming a first rate economist with the salary to match.”
