A TEENAGER hopes to be heading for disaster as she starts the next stage of her learning.
Richmond School and Sixth Form College student Izzy Rickaby has secured a university place to study geo-environmental hazards.
The 18-year-old, of Scorton, achieved an A, B and a C at A Level to take a place on the degree course at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, following a gap year working in the French Alps as a chalet assistant.
“I have always loved geography and learning about hazards such as earthquakes and how to deal with the aftermath,” she said.
“This is a new course and it sounds absolutely fascinating. I don’t know where it will take me, possibly to disaster zones, but it would be great to have a job where I could help.”
Head of sixth form Leslie Richardson said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for Izzy and just reward for some great results. The course does sound very interesting and who knows where it could lead her.”
