YOUNG leaders have been appointed to senior student positions at their academy.
Trinity Academy's head boy, head girl and house captains elect will take on the mantle officially before the end of the school year in July, but are already stepping in to support the current leaders.
The incoming head boy is Morgan Wardle, 17, of Thorne, and the head girl elect is Yasmin Mosby, 17, of Hatfield, who were selected after a rigorous application process that focused on how they live out the academy's core values.
Morgan, who is studying for A levels in physics, chemistry, maths and further maths, said: "It's about being positive role models and setting a good example."
Yasmin, who is taking A levels in maths, physics, biology and psychology and won the academy's top award for sport earlier this year, added: "For me, showing humility is the most important thing."
Hosting the academy's annual prize-giving next summer, supporting staff at sixth form open events and hosting visitors will be among their responsibilities.
Other students have been appointed to brand new roles aimed at giving them additional duties and helping them develop their leadership skills.
Ellie Rafferty, 16 of Moorends, is Christian Union ambassador and Ryan Clarke, 17, of Thorne, is sixth form catering manager, with responsibilities that include taking orders and transporting school lunches to the sixth form centre.
Explaining his new role, lead student mentor Connor Stennett, 17, of Stainforth, said: "My role is to bridge the gap between teachers and students, and to work with teachers to support any students who need extra help in any area by allocating them an appropriate sixth form mentor."
Chloe Allen, 16, of Moorends, who is health and well-being officer, added: "My role was created around what I want to do after school, which is to study nutrition and well-being at university. I also want to help other students by sharing what I've been taught about how to cope with exam stress and anxiety."
The academy's vice house captains, who will take over formally next year, are Luke Pike and Mica Skidmore, for Poets house, Bailey Wilson and Elly McMurdo, for Shepherds, and Caitlin Lever and Matthew Davenport, for Kings.
Trinity principal David Page said: "We are delighted with, and very proud of, our new student leaders. They embody all of our core values and set a fantastic example to the rest of the student body, not just in how they conduct themselves but also because they are lovely young people."
