FUNDRAISERS are being offered a run for their money in an annual charity event to kick off the festive season.
For the third year running, the West Park Santa Run will be staged in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice.
West Park Academy will again host the popular event, which sets off at 11am on December 5.
Runners will be given the option of a 2.5km or 5km route through the school grounds and West Park itself.
St Teresa’s Hospice chief executive Jane Bradshaw said: “The Santa Run is the start of the Christmas season for me and it has become a very important part of the fundraising calendar.
“We are very grateful to West Park Academy for allowing us to use their school hall and field again.”
Principal Catherine Thompson added: “We are delighted to do anything to support St Teresa’s Hospice, which provides such a good service for the people of Darlington and the surrounding area. Our students and staff really enjoy the event and are looking forward again to playing hosts.”
As well as the runs, there will be stalls in the hall, including cakes by Archer’s Catering, tombolas and Christmas games.
Entry is £10 for ages 16+, £5 for ages five-15 and under fives can enter free. Dogs are welcome at £2 per pet.
Entry fee includes a Santa suit, or Santa hat for children, mince pie and hot drink. To take part, register online at www.darlingtonhospice.org.uk.
