A BUSY driving school has secured its service team a top award for keeping instructors on the road and teaching the region’s drivers.
Teesside driving school 5 Star Driver Training nominated Sherwoods for the national accolade for going the extra mile.
The Stockton Vauxhall dealership, which also has branches in Darlington and Northallerton, was awarded the manufacturer’s Outstanding Customer Service Award.
Launched seven years ago 5 Star Driver Training runs a fleet of limited edition Vauxhall Corsas and teaches the full range of motorists, from complete novices and taxi drivers to advanced skills and instructors across Teesside including Normanby, Acklam, Ormesby, Billingham and Ingleby Barwick.
According to owners Shaun Fawcett and Graham Simpson key to their continued success is staying on the road and being available to customers seven days a week.
“Every hour we are off the road is an hour of business lost,” said Shaun, who became Britain’s youngest driving instructor when he qualified at 21.
Graham added: “Sherwoods are outstanding. If we have a problem or need a regular service we just ring and they tell us to bring the car straight down.
“If the car has had to be in overnight they have dropped our driver off at home and they have delivered the vehicle back to us. It is fantastic how well we are looked after and we thought it deserved some recognition.”
Sherwoods service controller Andrew Wishart said: “We are delighted to win the Vauxhall award but equally important is that our customers appreciate our efforts.”
