SIX joiners will be able to build their careers after being offered jobs with timber specialists straight from college.
The joinery students from Darlington College will complete their course next month before joining National Timber Systems in Brompton-on-Swale.
NTS has specialised in off-site fabrication of engineered wood products since 1979 and offers comprehensive design and engineering services, full technical support and guidance, regional and national deliveries and a wide range of timber goods.
Darlington College carpentry and joinery instructor Sam Poland: said: “This is great news and well deserved as the students have exhibited a great deal of skill and commitment. To place six from a single cohort straight into work with such a good firm is something I am very pleased about.”
The six are Leon Condon, 17, Kyle Morton, 18, Kyle Johnson, 17, Jace Cain, 20, George Corner, 18, all of Darlington and Oliver Berriman, 17 of Catterick.
Leon said: “We had a tour and an interview and I’m really looking forward to working there. The course has been great and it’s amazing to get a job offer at the end of it.”
Oliver added: “I have always loved working with my hands. It’s hard work but it’s enjoyable.”
