PUPILS served up a treat to a packed audience of family and friends as they brought the Christmas tale of The Innkeeper’s Breakfast to life.
Over sixty reception pupils dressed in angel wings, kings’ robes and shepherds’ cloaks for a traditional nativity with a twist, at Eldon Grove Academy, Hartlepool, part of The Extol Academy Trust.
The children, aged four and five, spent two weeks rehearsing the production, which told the tale of the innkeeper who couldn’t eat his breakfast for interruptions by travellers looking for a place to stay.
The title role of the inn keeper was played by four-year-old Harrison Brown with Nate Stamp, four, playing the role of Joseph and Evie Rudd, four, as Mary.
Pupils also got to practise their singing by learning seven new songs for the production including What A Busy Fellow, Who's That Knocking? and Is There Any Room?
Assistant head teacher Claire Martindale said: “This is the first time that our reception children have taken part in a nativity play.
“We have been looking at different faiths during lesson time so they all have an understanding of Christian beliefs.
“The nativity is a real highlight in the school calendar and it’s lovely to celebrate the end of the year by bringing the Christmas story to life on stage.”
