A SPECIALIST IT provider is meeting its clients’ needs to a tee after giving away a prize golfing day with one of the sport’s legends.
Courtesy of TSG (Technology Services Group), golf enthusiast Jon Greep was treated to a round at Close House Hotel and Golf, in Northumberland, with European and PGA tour winner Lee Westwood OBE, fresh from his third place finish at the Open Championship at Muirfield.
Jon, managing director of Southampton-based HCE which supplies commercial kitchens and catering equipment to hotels and public sector agencies across the UK, won the chance after triumphing in TSG’s annual national golf finals last year.
One of the leading suppliers of IT service and support across the UK, the company hosts regional golf competitions for clients each year with the winners competing at Close House, which is owned by TSG founder Graham Wylie.
The round with Westwood, who is Close House’s touring golf professional, was the prize for the overall national winner.
John said: “This was the first time I’d taken part in one of TSG’s renowned annual golf tournaments and I didn’t think I had a hope of winning.
“I’m a keen golfer and a member of my local club but don’t get to play as much as I’d like to.
“We travelled to Close House last October for the TSG finals and it was a tough course so I was extremely pleased to win.”
John returned to Close House with his son Matt, 21, to watch the unveiling of the Lee Westwood Filly Course, only the second Lee Westwood golf course in the world after the Lee Westwood Colt Course, also at Close House, and then to play in a 4-ball with the world class player.
“The first time I came to Close House Hotel everyone at TSG made me feel so welcome and this time it was almost like returning to my own club. That’s why I initially chose TSG to provide our business software and IT support service,” said Jon.
“I’d looked at a number of suppliers but the consistent theme throughout my experience with TSG has been excellent customer service and the friendly and helpful approach of their people. Having access to their nationwide network of technicians providing round-the-clock support meant I could play golf safe in the knowledge that through SystemCare TSG were looking after my business.
“The whole day at Close House was an incredible experience. Lee was such a great sportsman, down to earth and funny and we had a great day.”
Gary Wright, managing director of TSG in Southampton, added: “Our national competition is becoming more and more competitive with regional pride at stake.
“Jon beat some great amateur players among our clients to win our regional contest and we are delighted that he went on to win the national final and, as his prize, enjoy a round with one of golf’s greats.”
