A LAW firm with a reputation for successfully handling complex, multi-million pound personal injury cases is expanding its services with additional expertise.
Solicitor Ruth Markham, who has nine years' experience of dealing with personal injury cases including life changing catastrophic injuries, employers and public liability claims, clinical negligence and criminal injury compensation, has joined BHP Law as an Associate.
As a highly respected specialist in her field, Ruth typically works on high value cases involving damages of £500,000 up to £4m and more.
"There is a lot of expertise within BHP Law, which has a well deserved reputation for handling complex cases that can run for anything from two-five years or even longer. The firm's commitment to clients and pursuing cases for as long as it takes to get the very best outcome is what attracted me," said Ruth.
"We get to know our clients and their families very well as these cases can take a long time to settle or come to court, which makes getting a positive result all the more rewarding."
Ruth, who comes from Sunderland and has worked for national law firms in the North East since qualifying in 2005, is planning to expand the firm's personal injury service to her home city.
"With offices in Newcastle, Durham, Darlington and Teesside, we cover the whole region and, due to the nature of this work, we offer home visits," she added. Having often represented defendants in the past, she has experience of cases from both sides.
Ruth, who has taken over from retired partner Paul Saxon who will continue to act as a consultant to BHP Law, works closely with Karen Pratt, a Court of Protection Deputy who is appointed by the courts to manage compensation awarded to victims who have lost capacity due to negligence or a catastrophic injury.
The firm is also recruiting into the department to fulfill its growth plans.
