A MEDIA student is proving to be a God’s send after agreeing to help a local church with its crucial work.
Darlington College media student Molly Clark, of Newton Aycliffe, is planning to make a series of promotional videos for the town’s King’s Church highlighting the work it does in the community to help the underprivileged.
Molly, who is studying a Level 3 UAL Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology Film and TV, hopes one day to be a documentary maker along the lines of Louis Theroux.
She will make three videos detailing the Whessoe Road church and its members, the work it does running a food bank and its Furniture Reuse Project as part of her final major project.
“I am really happy to be working with them because they are so genuine in trying to help other people,” she said. “I was amazed to see what they are doing for the community and the videos will help get their messages out there using social media.
“It is a great opportunity for me. I have worked on big projects before but always as part of a team. This time it is all down to me. Making participatory documentaries – like Louis Theroux – is what I want to do. I want to experience what people do in their lives.”
Darlington College Programme Leader for L3 UAL Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology Film and TV Karl Oldridge said: “Molly has the perfect attitude to work and is driven to succeed in this field. I’m really looking forward to seeing what she produces for the church and it will be an amazing experience for her.”
