CADETS found themselves parading their skills in front of military top brass on a visit to their school.
Barnard Castle School’s Combined Cadet Force came under the scrutiny of Colonel Andy Hadfield, the deputy commander of 4th Infantry Brigade, based at Catterick Garrison.
Head boy Alex Booth and CCF regimental sergeant major Kim Hodgson led the colonel on a tour of the school including witnessing cadets on parade, under instruction and competing in an inter-house shooting competition.
Alex said: “It was such a privilege to host such a high-ranking officer and show him how CCF is flourishing at Barnard Castle School.
“Students learn such a lot as cadets, including a host of practical skills, teambuilding and resilience. It is clear to see how students develop at CCF and grow in confidence and self esteem. The colonel’s visit was a further boost to morale.”
