SISTERS Megan and Sophie Clews ended up seeing double figures when they opened their results – they both secured 11 A*s/As.
The Longfield Academy twins celebrated with schoolmates Sanjida Begum with 13 A*s/As and top performer Katherine Riley with 14 A*s/As.
Sophie said: “I was a bit worried when I came out of the exams so I am a bit shocked but very happy.”
Megan added: “They were much harder than the mocks so I was surprised as well.”
Megan now plans to study media, photography, history, maths or French A Levels at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. Sophie will study photography, chemistry, physics and maths.
Sanjida said: “I am just so happy. I’m looking forward to going to sixth form college to study maths, geography, French and sociology.
Katherine added: “All my effort paid off so I was relieved and very happy. I hope to go in to medicine one day and will study maths, chemistry, geography and biology at the QE.”
One hundred and seventy six hard working students at the Darlington academy managed to rack up an impressive A*/A grade total of 179 as the academy enjoyed an overall pass rate of 60 per cent in the benchmark A*-C grades including maths and English.
They secured a 100 per cent pass rate in Btec science, German and Polish, while the pass rates for English, maths and science were 85 per cent, 72 per cent and 70 per cent respectively.
Head teacher Susan Johnson said: “I’m thrilled with the results that have continued to exceed the national average in the main subjects, which has been the focus of the school.
“Achieving so many A*/A grades is testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and staff and they can feel very proud of their efforts.”
At fellow trust academy Darlington School of Mathematics and Science head boy George Plum celebrated with eight A*/As allowing him to continue towards his goal of joining the army to become an officer in the Royal Artillery.
