A NETBALL player who threw herself into the sport has been rewarded for her efforts after being selected to play for county.
Barnard Castle Preparatory School pupil Annabel Jackson was selected after successfully completing U12 trials at Sunderland in which she was competing against Year 7 senior school girls.
As a member of Bishop Auckland Netball Club, the Year 6 pupil plays goal attack and goal shooter and has enjoyed considerable success over the past four years.
“The trials went well but I felt there were lots of good players there so I wasn’t 100 per cent sure I would get through,” said Annabel, 11, who also plays cricket for Barnard Castle.
“Then I received an email whilst on holiday and it was really great to find out that I’d got in. I’m very excited about training with the squad and playing matches.”
Prep School head of sport Martin Burgess said: “Annabel’s commitment to her sport is commendable and you can always find her practising her netball shooting to good effect which comes through when she plays.”
