BOARDING students became the focus of attention as a German TV crew filmed at a North-East school.
German television programme Taff, which airs on a channel called ProSieben, an equivalent of Channel 4, will run a 20 minute slot on life at Barnard Castle School.
The crew spent two days filming German students and their opportunities at a UK boarding school, which will be aired in about six weeks’ time.
Year 11 and 13 students became the stars of the show as they chronicled their Barney experience. Staff were also interviewed as the crew made their way around lessons, chapel and boarders’ tea.
Deputy head in charge of sixth form and German teacher David Cresswell said: “We are very proud of all our international boarders at Barney. It’s a privilege to live in a community where so many nationalities not only get along with one another, but actively learn about each other’s cultures and working habits.
“I would say that the cultural intelligence of our students is second to none. I am a German teacher myself and relish the opportunity to speak to our German students and it was great fun to show the film crew around the school and explain Barney’s ethos in their language. They certainly left feeling part of it.”
