STUDENTS have come up with some blue-sky thinking to raise much-needed funds for an essential cause.
Northallerton School & Sixth Form College students are planning a variety of activities to finance a sponsored charity skydive.
The leap of faith is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the Great North Air Ambulance, a cause close to their hearts.
Student leadership co-ordinator Tom Bunn will join in the venture with students Chris Davenport, 17, Isaac Waton, 17, Emily Langthorne, 16, Emily Constantine, 17, Edward Hixson, 17, Ehsaan Hameed, 16 and Jonathan Staves, 17.
Edward said: “I wanted to do something different to mark the end of our time at this school and involve all my friends. Many of our families are connected with the medical profession and we all appreciate how lucky we are to have the Great North Air Ambulance patrolling our skies.”
As well as the skydive, fundraisers will include organising a non-uniform day, stalls, leg waxing, a car wash and charity football match. Students also plan to approach local businesses for support and have set a grand total of £5,200.
Mr Bunn added: “This generosity of spirit and imaginative approach to community fundraising is so typical of our sixth formers, who have been a delight to teach.
“The Great North Air Ambulance is an incredible service which saves so many lives by helping people at the most critical time following an accident or health problem. We are so lucky to have it and I’m thrilled that these young people have recognised its value.”
