CREATIVE pupils have wowed a panel of judges with their eggcellent selection of decorated creations.

Pupils at West Park Academy, Darlington, scrambled to produce a winning entry in the school’s annual competition.

Tasked with creating their work around a sporting theme, pupils produced an outstanding Easter display featuring runners, rowers and racing car drivers among a host of other extraordinary sports-related designs.

All entries were judged by Father Daman Bage, of St Mary’s Church, Cockerton and Vicki Hollings and Katie Merritt from Hays Travel, Darlington, who provided chocolate Easter eggs and Easter goodie bags for the winners.

“It was so hard to choose just one winner from each class,” said Father Bage. “The amount of work which has gone into some of the designs was exceptional.”

The winning eggs belonged to pupils Riad Albarq, Tilly Gibson, Anya Emmerson, Charlotte Douglas, Jay McMichael, Max Clark, Jennifer Mitchell, Grace Bruce, Charlie Midwood, Audrey Meredith, Carly Farr, Joseph Gayles, Millie Hogg, Alex Atkins, Finley Purchase and Ella Nendick-Brown.

Senior sales advisor at Hays Travel, Darlington Vikki Hollings said: “It is always a pleasure to see the spectacular eggs that the children have made.

“It was so nice to have such a wide variety of designs to choose from but it gets harder and harder to pick the winners each year.”

Principal Samantha Hirst added: “I’m very pleased that I didn’t have to choose the best eggs as they were all so wonderful.

“Even though only a handful of pupils were chosen to receive a prize everyone who entered was a winner in my eyes.”
