ENTREPRENEURIAL students have launched a new business that will use their computer skills to solve IT issues across the region.

Level 3 BTEC support and networking students at Darlington College have set up Vybrus Hosting less than a year after leaving school.

The IT business offers clients space to host their websites, web-design and technical support, working with data centres in Coventry, Texas and LA.

Founders Alex Banks, 17, of Darlington, Nathan McCann, 19, of Newton Aycliffe, Matthew Reale, 16, of Darlington, and Jack Stephens, 16, of Darlington, are targeting individuals and start up companies looking for bespoke internet packages.

Matthew, a former student at Longfield Academy, who founded the company, said: “We are offering the full range of services for basic to advanced users. We will also have live chat allowing customers to sort out any problems they may have immediately.”

Jack and Alex both attended St Aidan’s Academy before moving to Darlington College. Jack is planning to return to his old school for a work placement to help them with their IT.

“I got in touch asking whether this would be possible and they agreed,” he said. “I’m looking forward to using the skills I have developed at Darlington College to help my old school.”

Business innovation and IT tutor Josh Spears said: “The students have a unique blend of skills in that they are both technologically talented and entrepreneurial, the ideal combination for a successful internet business.”
